Manchester City may face yet another challenge ahead of their crucial clash against Liverpool next Sunday.

Pep Guardiola’s team has been struggling, with their recent 0-4 defeat to Tottenham marking their fifth consecutive loss in all competitions.

This poor run has left them eight points behind Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

The loss of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri to a season-ending ACL injury has been a major blow, and with other key players already sidelined, City could now be without another crucial figure for their trip to Anfield.

Fresh Injury Concern for John Stones

According to the *Liverpool Echo*, John Stones is now a doubt for the top-of-the-table showdown after missing training ahead of City’s Champions League game against Feyenoord.

The former Everton defender was substituted at halftime during the Tottenham defeat, raising concerns over his fitness for Sunday. Guardiola will be anxiously awaiting updates on the 30-year-old’s condition as his side enters a pivotal week.

City’s injury woes also include Oskar Bobb and Mateo Kovacic, although the returns of Ruben Dias and Jeremy Doku to training offer some relief after they missed the loss to Spurs.

Stones’ Absence Would Be a Big Loss

While it’s not confirmed that Stones will miss Sunday’s game, his absence from training has certainly raised eyebrows.

Despite being a centre-back, Stones is tied as City’s second-highest scorer this season with three goals, outperforming attackers like Bernardo Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Jack Grealish, and others.

If Stones is unavailable, Guardiola would lose not only a key defensive player but also a significant set-piece threat. His absence would undoubtedly be a setback as City aim to bounce back at Anfield.

Both Sides Facing Injury Challenges

Liverpool, too, are dealing with injury concerns, meaning both teams will likely be missing key players when they face off in a high-stakes encounter.

While Stones’ absence would be a major blow for City, no one wants to see players sidelined due to injury. Fans will hope his issue is not serious and that he can return to action soon.
