Antony faced criticism for his “unacceptable” behavior following Manchester United’s victory over Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-finals.
On Sunday, Manchester United appeared to be on their way to the FA Cup final for the second consecutive year, leading Coventry City 3-0 at Wembley Stadium.
However, against all expectations, the Championship side mounted a remarkable comeback to force the game into extra time.
Ellis Simms scored to level the game 19 minutes before halftime, and Callum O’Hare’s deflected shot reduced the deficit to one goal.
Haji Wright completed the comeback by converting a controversial penalty in the fifth minute of injury time, sending Coventry fans into raptures and extending the game into extra time.
The drama didn’t end there. Mark Robins’ team thought they had completed one of the greatest comebacks in FA Cup history when Victor Torp scored past Andre Onana in the 121st minute, but VAR disallowed it for a marginal offside.
The match then proceeded to a penalty shootout, which United won 4-2, despite Casemiro missing their first penalty.
Onana saved from Callum O’Hare, and Ben Sheaf’s shot went over the crossbar.
This left Rasmus Hojlund with the chance to secure United’s place in the final against Manchester City, and he duly delivered.
Most of United’s players displayed sportsmanship by quickly consoling their disappointed opponents after Hojlund’s penalty found the net.
