Real Madrid are optimistic about having three players return from injury in time for their Champions League clash against Liverpool on Wednesday, but one key player has now been ruled out.

Two European giants will face off at Anfield this week, with Liverpool, the six-time European champions, taking on the current holders, who have had a shaky start to this season’s competition, losing two of their first four matches.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot will be missing some key players for Wednesday’s game, and Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti faces a similar challenge.

Real Madrid injury update

According to the *Evening Standard*, Real Madrid players Rodrygo, Aurelien Tchouameni, and Lucas Vazquez are all working to recover from their injuries and could be available for the match against Liverpool.

However, *Marca* reports that Vinicius Junior suffered a hamstring injury during the weekend’s win over Leganes and will be out for at least a month, meaning he will miss the trip to Anfield.

Can Liverpool finally get one over on Real Madrid?

Liverpool fans will likely be relieved that Real Madrid will be without Vinicius, given his history of tormenting the Reds in recent years.

The Brazilian scored the winning goal in the 2022 Champions League final and netted two goals in a 3-1 victory over Liverpool in April 2021.

He also scored twice in their 5-2 win at Anfield two years ago, bringing his tally to five goals in five matches against Liverpool.

Real Madrid will also be without David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, and Eder Militao, who are all sidelined with long-term injuries. It remains uncertain whether Rodrygo, Tchouameni, or Vazquez will be fit in time for the match.

With several key players missing, and Liverpool in strong form under Slot, the Reds may view Wednesday’s game as their best opportunity in years to exact revenge on Real Madrid for their previous defeats over the past decade.

While hoping for a Liverpool victory at Anfield, we wish Vinicius a quick recovery, as it’s always unfortunate to see players injured.
