Manchester United owners have reportedly told Michael Carrick to offload their £43 million flop immediately, warning that they will not tolerate lazy players. “Tell him to pack his things and leave the club—there’s no point paying a high salary for no return,” they said, signaling that failure to act could put Carrick’s position at risk.

Manchester United have taken clear steps forward since Michael Carrick stepped in as interim manager. Although there have been a few small setbacks, the team now looks more solid, confident, and better organised under the former midfielder.

Just a few weeks ago, United appeared set for another season outside the top four. But since Carrick replaced Ruben Amorim in January, results have improved and the club is back in the fight for a UEFA Champions League place.

His impact has been so strong that he is now being seriously considered for the full-time managerial role at the end of the campaign.

At the same time, Kobbie Mainoo’s contract situation continues to attract attention. The 20-year-old midfielder has had a mixed season.

After breaking into the first team as one of the club’s brightest academy graduates, he became a key figure in midfield before losing his regular place during Amorim’s spell, which led to speculation about a possible summer move.

Carrick’s arrival changed that. He brought Mainoo back into the starting XI, and the young midfielder has since produced some of the best performances of his career.

Despite his importance to the team, Mainoo is still among the lowest earners in the squad, reportedly on around £20,000 a week.

His current deal runs until 2027, with the club holding the option of a one-year extension. Talks over improved terms have been ongoing.

Earlier reports claimed progress had been made after Mainoo reduced his wage demands, but his strong form under Carrick could now affect those negotiations.

Even so, the England international is believed to be happy at Old Trafford, and there is confidence that he will eventually commit his long-term future to the club.

In a separate matter, young United prospect Jack Fletcher has apologised after using homophobic language during an EFL Trophy match against Barnsley F.C. earlier this season.

The 18-year-old, son of former United midfielder Darren Fletcher, was handed a six-match ban and fined £1,500 by The Football Association.

The incident occurred in October after Fletcher was sent off following a heated exchange with an opponent who reportedly mentioned members of his family. In frustration, he used an offensive term and was later charged by the FA.

After the decision was announced, Fletcher released a public apology, saying the remark was made in anger and does not represent his beliefs. He admitted the language was unacceptable and expressed regret for his actions.
