Trent Alexander-Arnold is reportedly interested in becoming the next owner of FC Nantes, according to a surprising story that broke on Friday.
L’Equipe reports that Alexander-Arnold’s father, Michael Arnold, is backing the venture through a London-based investment firm.
The French outlet also claims the proposed takeover bid is valued at £83.8m, following previous meetings with the club’s owner, Waldemar Kita, last summer.
However, Nantes has reportedly denied that any discussions with Liverpool’s No.66 are taking place.
Could Alexander-Arnold actually purchase a Ligue 1 club?
If reports from France are accurate, it seems like a real possibility.
Kita, who is said to be unpopular among the club’s fans, is open to selling, and there appears to be substantial financial backing behind the deal.
Given Alexander-Arnold’s prior investment in Alpine’s F1 team, it’s not entirely surprising he’s pursuing another venture.
Still, it would feel a bit unusual to think of the star full-back as both a footballer and a club owner!
