Liverpool have reportedly turned down an initial offer from Southampton for attacking midfielder Fabio Carvalho.

David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that the Saints made a bid of £15 million, which Liverpool rejected. However, the Reds might consider a higher bid for the 21-year-old.

Carvalho, who has had two loan spells since joining Liverpool, seeks regular playing time, which Southampton’s manager Russell Martin can provide.

Liverpool, on the other hand, seems more inclined towards a permanent sale rather than another loan move, despite Carvalho’s impressive pre-season form, including a goal against Manchester United.

Southampton, having secured promotion to the Premier League and improved their financial position, are expected to make another bid for Carvalho.

The Saints have already made significant signings and are likely to continue their efforts to acquire the former Fulham star.

Despite heavy speculation, Liverpool have opted not to move forward with a potential £85 million deal for Alexander Isak. Instead, the club has shifted its transfer focus and funds toward other priority targets who are considered more suited to Arne Slot’s tactical plans.
