Recent reports indicate that two Liverpool defenders, Rhys Williams and Billy Koumetio, could be departing, as they have not been seen in Slot’s training sessions.
Journalist James Pearce reported in The Athletic that both players are expected to leave, with Williams attracting interest from Turkey and several League One clubs, and Koumetio drawing attention from Scotland and France.
Despite Liverpool’s inactivity in the market, the club is still expected to sign a new defender and possibly a wide attacker.
Liverpool needs to act quickly to secure their transfer targets, having missed out on primary targets like Leny Yoro, who joined Manchester United, and Nico Williams, likely to join Barcelona. Newcastle United is also confident of retaining Anthony Gordon after Eddie Howe’s firm stance.
The Reds must now focus on other targets, prioritizing the acquisition of a new center-back to partner with Virgil Van Dijk next season.
