Following Manchester City’s 2-1 FA Cup final loss to Manchester United, fans targeted two of their own players on social media.

City, the favorite to win the FA Cup for the second consecutive year against the same opponents they defeated in the previous final, saw their plans disrupted from the start.

Alejandro Garnacho scored early after a long ball caused confusion in City’s defense. Kobbie Mainoo then made it 2-0 with a close-range finish from a brilliant team play, giving United the lead at halftime.

In the second half, goalkeeper Andre Onana made several crucial saves, and Erling Haaland hit the crossbar. Jeremy Doku scored late to give City hope, but United held on to secure the title.

Haaland didn’t score, and Kevin De Bruyne was substituted in the 56th minute after a tough afternoon at Wembley. City supporters criticized both players online.

Comments included, “De Bruyne was horrible, perhaps still a little hurt,” and “Martinez winning headers against Haaland seems awful to say the least.” Another person remarked, “They said De Bruyne is better than Kroos and Modric.”

Despite the disappointing loss at Wembley, City ended the season with their fourth consecutive Premier League trophy.

Questions about Erik ten Hag’s future as United’s manager will continue, but his impressive tactical performance at Wembley has bolstered his standing.
