“I regret to say this, but he can no longer continue under my management at Liverpool,” said Arne Slot, delivering a harsh blow to the £30M overlooked Liverpool player. The manager has urged the forgotten star to find a new club by January, signaling the end of his time at Anfield.

Liverpool’s goalkeeping department could face a significant change at the end of the season, with Caoimhin Kelleher’s future at Anfield becoming a major talking point. His ongoing battle for playing time with Alisson Becker has sparked considerable debate.

The situation is set to grow more complex in the summer of 2025 when Giorgi Mamardashvili, signed in 2024, joins the squad.

Questions arise about whether the Republic of Ireland international will remain Liverpool’s No. 2 goalkeeper. It seems likely that the 26-year-old may leverage his current form to secure a move to a club where he can play more regularly.

For a goalkeeper of Kelleher’s caliber, finding such opportunities shouldn’t be a challenge. The highly regarded player has consistently demonstrated his talent, especially during Alisson’s absence due to injury.

One individual unlikely to welcome the postponed Merseyside derby is Kelleher himself, as Alisson’s imminent return may limit his chances further.

This dynamic has prompted Sky Sports pundit Paul Robinson to suggest that Kelleher should seek a transfer at the earliest opportunity.

“No matter how well Kelleher performs, once Alisson returns, he’ll start,” Robinson told *Football Insider*. “That’s the tough reality of being a No. 2.

He’s been outstanding this season, but he knows his role. At this stage of his career, he wants to be a No. 1, and with Mamardashvili’s arrival, staying at Liverpool likely isn’t viable.”

Robinson added, “It’s time for him to move on and establish himself as a first-choice goalkeeper. Liverpool fans should appreciate him while they can because it looks like he’ll depart at the end of the season.”

If Kelleher does leave, it will be with the club’s and fans’ blessings.

His contributions to Liverpool have been significant, most notably his heroics in the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea in 2022, which earned him a spot on the goalkeeper mural at the AXA Training Centre.

With 59 senior appearances, 21 clean sheets, and a 74.58% win rate, Kelleher has left an indelible mark. At 26, and with Mamardashvili’s arrival on the horizon, no one would begrudge him seeking a starting role elsewhere come summer.
