According to Romano, his sources are denying any links between Diaz and City, despite reports suggesting that the Colombian international had agreed to a five-year contract with the club, who were allegedly ready to pay €70 million for him.
Diaz is a crucial player for Liverpool, so it seems unlikely they would let him go just days before the new season begins, especially with limited time to find a replacement.
Additionally, it would be hard to imagine Liverpool strengthening a major rival like City in such a way.
Romano’s response, seen below, offers Liverpool fans a reassuring update on the situation.
While Diaz would have been a strong addition to City’s attack, the club will likely need to explore other options, especially after Julian Alvarez’s transfer to Atletico Madrid.
Pep Guardiola may be considering upgrades in attack, as Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku may not fully meet his expectations, and Bernardo Silva is getting older and may need to be replaced soon.
