After being replaced by 20-year-old academy prospect Toby Collyer in the second half, rumors circulated on social media that Casemiro had left Old Trafford before the match ended.
However, this was not the case, as Erik ten Hag clarified in his post-match press conference.
“I saw him in the locker room after the game,” said the United manager, whose team has lost two of its first three Premier League matches.
“I took him off because we were 2-0 down, and against a team like Liverpool with their quality, we needed to take risks if we wanted to get back into the game.”
