Parts of Old Trafford booed Erik ten Hag during his end-of-season speech after their 3-2 win against Newcastle.
United secured all three points in their final home match, aiming to secure European football for the next season.
Kobbie Mainoo opened the scoring with a fantastic strike after Kieran Trippier had put him onside. Newcastle quickly equalized with a close-range goal from Anthony Gordon.
Amad Diallo then restored United’s lead with a stunning first-time shot with his weaker foot, marking his first Premier League goal.
Rasmus Hojlund, coming on as a substitute, added a third goal just two minutes later. Ten Hag’s team managed to hold on for the win despite a late scare from Lewis Hall.
After the match, Ten Hag addressed the fans from the center of the pitch, receiving both boos and cheers after a tumultuous season, and highlighted the importance of fan support.
“I want to thank you all for your fantastic support this season,” he said. “It hasn’t been easy, but your backing has remained constant.”
He also stressed the significance of the upcoming FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley, assuring fans, “The season isn’t over yet. We’re going to Wembley, and I promise the team will give their all to bring the FA Cup to Old Trafford!”
