Liverpool are reportedly eager to secure a contract extension for Mo Salah at Anfield. However, as mid-November approaches, talks over the Egyptian’s future seem stalled.

The lack of progress on extensions for Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contracts also expire in 2025, has heightened concerns among fans.

Mo Salah and Liverpool still at an impasse in contract negotiations

According to Sky Germany, a significant breakthrough in Salah’s contract talks is unlikely anytime soon. Florian Plettenberg reports that the “Egyptian King” and Liverpool remain “far apart” in negotiations.

Additionally, there’s the looming possibility of a substantial offer from Saudi Arabia, along with interest from European clubs.

Where does Salah stand on staying at Liverpool?

All indications suggest that Salah is committed to dedicating his best years to Liverpool. He’s thriving under new head coach Arne Slot, with an impressive 20 goal contributions in 17 matches across all competitions this season. It’s no surprise his agent, Ramy Abbas Issa, recently asserted that his client is currently the best player in world football.

Liverpool’s management team, led by CEO Michael Edwards and sporting director Richard Hughes, will likely remain objective, considering Salah’s long-term form beyond 2024/25 rather than focusing solely on his current performance.

Meanwhile, Salah’s representatives are expected to push for a wage increase (currently £350,000-a-week plus bonuses) and/or an extended contract duration to reflect his market value.
