Liverpool fought back twice but squandered a late lead in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Newcastle United on Wednesday evening.

Curtis Jones scored once, and Mohamed Salah added two more as the Reds were held in a dramatic encounter at St James’ Park.

The draw narrows Liverpool’s lead at the top of the Premier League table to seven points after 14 games, marking only their second league draw of the season.

Here’s how the Liverpool players were rated in the chaotic match, according to the *ECHO*:

Player Ratings

Caoimhin Kelleher – 6

Made good saves from Tonali and Guimaraes early on and later denied Gordon, but couldn’t be faulted for the first two goals. However, his error for the third was costly.

Jarell Quansah – 5

Struggled against Gordon in the first half but didn’t shy away from his duties. Moved to center-back late on and avoided conceding a penalty. Booked.

Andy Robertson – 6

Defensively shaky in the first half, reflecting Liverpool’s disorganized backline. Improved after the break, contributing to attacks on the left and supporting the center-backs.

Ryan Gravenberch – 4

Lost possession in dangerous areas multiple times and looked off the pace with limited offensive impact. Improved slightly in the second half but had an overall poor performance. Booked and substituted.

Alexis Mac Allister – 6

Showed flashes of attacking intent, forcing one save and hitting the post, but was defensively vulnerable and too easily bypassed for Newcastle’s first goal. Slightly better after halftime. Booked.

Curtis Jones – 7

Liverpool’s standout midfielder in the first half for his composure on the ball. Scored the first equalizer and maintained a consistent level throughout the game.

Mohamed Salah – 9

Quiet in the first half but exploded in the second, delivering two goals, one assist, and nearly adding a stunning third with a shot off the crossbar.

Darwin Nunez – 5

Largely uninvolved in the first half and missed two good chances in the second. Despite his struggles, his work rate remained high. Booked.

Cody Gakpo – 6

Energetic and effective in the first half, winning several corners down the left flank. His influence waned in the second half before being substituted.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (subbed on for Gomez, 67’) – 8

Transformed Liverpool’s attacking presence on the right wing after coming on, delivering two key assists. Booked.
