Alexis Mac Allister insists Liverpool will stay grounded despite their strong start to the Premier League season as they prepare for the second half of the campaign.

The Reds, sitting six points clear at the top with a game in hand, are gearing up for a high-stakes clash against rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

Liverpool, under Arne Slot, wrapped up 2024 with an emphatic 5-0 victory over West Ham United, marking their 23rd win in 27 matches across all competitions.

The squad returned to training on Thursday after a brief break, fully focused on extending United’s struggles, with their rivals currently languishing in 14th place after three consecutive league defeats under Ruben Amorim.

Reflecting on Liverpool’s season so far, Mac Allister said: “We’re in a great moment, and the mood in the squad is fantastic. But at a club like this, there’s no room for complacency. The focus is always on the next game and continuing to win.”

The Argentine midfielder, who reached his 50th Premier League appearance against West Ham, also emphasized the importance of squad depth: “Whether starting or coming on as a substitute, every player is crucial. Winning trophies requires everyone to step up when needed.”

This season, Mac Allister has adapted to a defensive midfield role under Slot and has been a near-constant presence, missing only two games due to suspension.

Speaking about Slot’s influence since replacing Jurgen Klopp, he said: “From day one, Slot brought clear tactical ideas, and as a group, we’ve embraced them.

It’s impressive how he’s seamlessly taken over after a legend like Klopp. We’re all committed to working hard and delivering success for him.”

With a goal and two assists in his last three games, Mac Allister is keen to build on his performances. “I love scoring and assisting, and I’m always striving to improve my numbers. I’m happy with my contributions but believe there’s still more I can achieve.”

Despite heavy speculation, Liverpool have opted not to move forward with a potential £85 million deal for Alexander Isak. Instead, the club has shifted its transfer focus and funds toward other priority targets who are considered more suited to Arne Slot’s tactical plans.

“I’m ready to sign for Liverpool immediately if he’s no longer in the squad. Once that condition is met, I’d be happy to make the move to Anfield” – those are the words of top defensive target Marc Guehi, who has made it clear he’s open to joining Liverpool, but only on one condition: the departure of a key current Reds player.
