Former Manchester United defender Raphael Varane faces the potential cancellation of his two-year contract with Como, just a month after joining the Serie A club.

Reports suggest Varane, who left Manchester United as a free agent on June 30, is at risk due to an injury sustained during his Coppa Italia debut against Sampdoria.

While the exact nature of his injury is unclear, it has kept him sidelined, and Como has omitted him from their 25-man Serie A squad for the season.

Como, managed by Spanish football legend Cesc Fabregas, had made a strong push in the summer transfer market, signing several experienced players, including Varane.

However, with Varane unable to contribute due to his injury, the club is reportedly considering terminating his contract, just five weeks into the two-year deal.

This decision could mean Varane’s Como career ends before it truly begins, despite his initial excitement about joining the project.

Varane, who had high hopes for the move and the opportunity to play under Fabregas, may now find his stint in Italy cut short as Como contemplates releasing him before the January transfer window.
