Liverpool have plenty of quality in their squad. From defense to midfield and attack, the Reds have assembled a group of players capable of competing at the highest level.
The biggest challenge now may not be about finding more talent. It could be about finding the right way to use the talent already available.
That is where Andoni Iraola comes in.
The Spanish manager has inherited a squad filled with different qualities and playing styles. His job is to find the right balance, identify the strongest combinations and build a system that allows the players to perform at their best.
That process will not necessarily happen overnight.
Every manager needs time to understand his players. Training sessions can reveal certain things, but competitive matches provide a completely different test. Iraola needs time to discover which players work best together, which tactical system suits the squad and how the team should respond to different opponents.
Liverpool’s attacking options give Iraola plenty of possibilities. The midfield also offers different combinations, while the defense has enough quality to provide a strong foundation.
The challenge is bringing all those pieces together.
A squad can contain excellent individual players without immediately becoming a perfect team. Football is about chemistry, movement, positioning and understanding. Players need to know where their teammates will be and what is expected from them in different situations.
That understanding develops with time.
Liverpool supporters may therefore need patience while Iraola builds his version of the team. There will likely be good performances, difficult games and tactical experiments along the way.
What matters is whether the manager can eventually turn the individual quality within the squad into a consistent collective performance.
The potential is certainly there.
Liverpool have the players. Now Iraola has to find the formula that brings everything together.
If he succeeds, this could become a very exciting Liverpool team.
