Liverpool Monitoring Como Midfielder Lucas Da Cunha

Liverpool have reportedly added Como midfielder Lucas Da Cunha to their shortlist as the club continues to assess options for the midfield.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool are among several Premier League clubs monitoring the 25-year-old, with Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Bournemouth also understood to be keeping an eye on his situation.

Da Cunha has enjoyed a remarkable rise since joining Como from Nice in January 2023. Originally used primarily as a winger or attacking midfielder, he has gradually moved into a deeper central midfield role under Cesc Fàbregas.

That positional change has proved significant. Da Cunha has become an important figure for Como and has also taken on the captaincy. His development has now earned him international recognition with France.

His current profile is particularly interesting because Liverpool are reportedly looking to strengthen their midfield. Da Cunha’s ability to operate in a deeper role could make him an option for the number-six position, rather than simply another attacking player.

The midfielder has also been a regular presence for Como. Opta records him as having made 99 Serie A appearances, with 10 goals and six assists, while he featured in 36 league matches last season, scoring six goals and providing four assists.

However, Liverpool would face competition if they decided to pursue the player. TEAMtalk reports that several Premier League clubs have already monitored his development, while Da Cunha recently committed his future to Como with a new long-term contract.

For now, there is no indication that Liverpool have made a formal offer. The reports describe the Reds as monitoring the midfielder rather than being involved in advanced negotiations.

Da Cunha’s rapid transformation from an attacking player into a deeper midfielder under Fàbregas has nevertheless put him firmly on the radar of major European clubs.

With Liverpool continuing to assess their midfield options, Lucas Da Cunha could become another name to watch closely in the coming transfer windows.
