The Tunisian player, not selected for his country’s Africa Cup of Nations squad due to his withdrawal from the competition to secure his club future, signed a loan deal with Sevilla, including an option to buy for £17.2 million.
In another move, twenty-year-old Mateo Mejia from Manchester United has joined Sevilla on a permanent contract after spending four and a half years with the English club. Despite facing injuries, Mejia became a regular for the Under-21 team, making 15 appearances and scoring against Arsenal and Leicester City in the previous season. Having joined United’s academy from Real Zaragoza in 2019, he participated in twelve matches for the Under-21s this season, scoring three goals.
Mateo, eligible to represent Colombia, shared a friendly match against Wrexham in the United States during the previous summer. The club’s statement on his transfer conveyed best wishes for his future.
