MANCHESTER UNITED

“We’re no longer pursuing Mbeumo or Ekitike — we’ve identified our ideal replacement in the Bundesliga,” said Ruben Amorim, revealing that Manchester United have shifted focus to an “outstanding” former Manchester City prospect who has been impressing at the ongoing Club World Cup.

INEOS understands that signing Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo alone won’t be enough to elevate Manchester United into serious Premier League title contenders under Ruben Amorim for the 2025/26 season.

As a result, the Red Devils remain busy in the transfer market, with several big names being linked once the Mbeumo deal is wrapped up.

While Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike have repeatedly been mentioned as attacking options, a new name has emerged on United’s radar.

Manchester United Interested in Dortmund’s Felix Nmecha

According to German football journalist Christian Falk, Manchester United are now eyeing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha as a potential reinforcement for their midfield.

The 24-year-old, a product of Manchester City’s academy, is being considered by INEOS following Christian Eriksen’s exit at the end of last season.

Nmecha joined Dortmund from Wolfsburg in 2023 and has since become a key figure in their squad, registering eight goals and five assists in 68 appearances.

What Makes Nmecha a Target — and Why Dortmund Don’t Want to Sell

Despite missing part of last season due to a ligament issue, Nmecha still managed to post a strong 7.04 average rating on Sofascore.

He’s currently representing Dortmund in the expanded Club World Cup in the U.S., where he recently scored in a thrilling 4-3 win over Mamelodi Sundowns.

Former Dortmund star Nuri Sahin has praised Nmecha as an “exceptional” talent — a sentiment reflected in Dortmund’s firm stance: they have no intention of selling the player and are not open to offers at this point.
