Haaland, who paid £51 million to join City last year, had a great first campaign, tallying 52 goals and contributing significantly to the team’s treble. Although prior rumors suggested a condition in Haaland’s City contract, specifics have been hard to come by.
Real Madrid may become interested in this option when it expires in the summer, according to Spanish publication AS. Even though Haaland has long piqued interest, recent rumors suggest that attention has shifted from Kylian Mbappe to the City star in the hopes that Jude Bellingham would have an impact on Haaland’s choice.
In other transfer news, Cole Palmer was supposedly signed by Chelsea at the last minute after a failed attempt to sign Jeremy Doku was made; Doku eventually joined City.
Doku, a Belgian who cost £55.5 million to acquire from Rennes in August, has scored three goals and provided six assists in his short time at Manchester City under Pep Guardiola’s leadership. In addition to their main target, Doku, Chelsea also made a late bid for Michael Olise of Crystal Palace.
After failing to meet both goals, Palmer’s £42.5 million transfer to Chelsea was permitted. Since then, Palmer has established himself as Mauricio Pochettino’s regular starter, tallying three goals and four assists in his four years at Stamford Bridge.
