“We have a big game against Tottenham on Monday, so I think this is the perfect opportunity to speak with the media and explain to the world why Mauricio Pochettino continues to treat me like a nobody.” Thiago Silva, a defender for Chelsea, discusses why he was demoted.

As he nears the end of his current contract with the team, Thiago Silva has shared details about his connection with Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino. Despite early attempts to reduce his workload due to his age of 39, the Brazilian defender has been a constant presence on the pitch, playing every minute of Premier League games this season.

Weekend relaxation was supposed to be part of this, but Silva was forced into a regular starting duty due to a string of defensive injuries sustained by Fofana, Badiashile, and Disasi.

Disasi and Badiashile are currently available, allowing Silva to rest during Chelsea’s recent 2-0 Carabao Cup victory over Blackburn Rovers. Fofana won’t return until spring 2024. Although it was not in the original plan for him to play so much in the league by November, Silva has shared his strategies for staying in top form.

Silva described his daily schedule in an interview with the Guardian. It starts at 8 a.m. and requires him to get at Cobham by 8:45 a.m.; it also includes pre-training preparations, the training session, post-training recovery at the club, and a two-hour nap in a hyperbaric chamber at home.

In addition, he emphasized the assistance of a group of experts as well as food, snacks, dinner, and vitamins. His daily activities involve spending time with his family and occasionally going to Chelsea’s academy to watch his kids train. Silva emphasized the value of recuperation and the idea that “less is more” in his daily regimen.

Pochettino has profited from Silva’s ability to offer an alternative viewpoint on tactics or problems while on the field because of his extensive expertise.

Pochettino has been instrumental in helping Silva become more fit and overcome his comfort zone in exchange. When speaking about this partnership, Silva said, “Pochettino has helped me a lot with my fitness.”

There has been a lot of conjecture regarding Silva’s future as he gets closer to turning 40 next year and his Stamford Bridge contract expires the following summer. But when he talked about helping Pochettino, he made a suggestion about a possible role in the future. Silva talked about how he served as a kind of “manager” on the field, watching the action from behind and providing his players and the coaching staff with ideas.

He recognized the critical role that this relationship plays in the dynamics of the team and emphasized the need of communication in order to prevent errors and create changes.
