Virgil Van Dijk will now serve a lengthy suspension from the FA after acting inappropriately toward the referee.
After considering the FA’s argument, a Liverpool star receives a longer suspension. For his outburst against Newcastle, Virgil Van Dijk reportedly earned a £100,000 fine and an additional one-match suspension from the BBC.
In the 28th minute against Newcastle, Van Dijk was sent for a foul on Alexander Isak. The Dutchman voiced his disapproval of the decision, reacted angrily, and was overheard calling Brooks’ decision a “f*****g joke” during a protracted outburst against the official.
As he was exiting the field, he also got into a heated dispute with the fourth official. On camera, he can be heard telling the official to “F**k off, do not touch me.”
He won’t play against Wolves on Saturday as a result of the FA’s choice to charge him with “improper conduct.”
Liverpool will struggle on the road without their captain at the core of the defense.
But Joe Gomez and Joel Matip shone against Aston Villa without the Dutchman, easily thumping them 3-0.
