Locals are calling for Luis Diaz’s safe release as they go to the streets in protest over the continued hunt for their father, who was abducted on Saturday.
Luis Manuel Diaz was kidnapped late on Saturday, apparently as a result of a gang of motorcycle riders taking over the family vehicle. Cilenis Marulanda, his wife, was also inside the car but was saved.
There are worries that Diaz Sr. might have been taken to Venezuela, therefore military and law enforcement personnel are putting forth great effort to find him. Authorities have offered a 200 million peso prize for information leading to his location in order to speed up the hunt.
Luis Diaz has been granted compassionate leave by Liverpool due to this upsetting circumstance, and as of Tuesday, the winger had not released any word regarding the incident. His father is still missing, and that is a serious problem.

The 26-year-old winger revealed on Tuesday the specifics of a march that took place in Barrancas, the location where Luis Diaz’s parents were abducted. Hundreds of residents turned out for the march, which was organized by Marulanda. They lined the streets in white outfits and carried balloons as they passed through the town. At the Diaz family home, prayers were spoken and candles were lit to mark the end of the event.
Semana, a Colombian news agency, reported that the town’s schools are currently shuttered and that a sit-in was planned in support of the Diaz family. Police dogs have been sent in to help in the hunt for the player’s father and his captors since authorities think Diaz Sr. might be detained in the Serrania del Perija jungle.
There’s hope that authorities are gaining ground on the kidnappers as another Semana report claims that “the kidnappers are fully identified.” On the advice of his family, Diaz has stayed in the UK despite these developments, and it seems unlikely that he will be connected with Liverpool anytime soon.
