United Goalkeeper Criticizes Teammate for Costly Defensive Mistake

Manchester United’s struggles worsened with a frustrating 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest, and goalkeeper André Onana did not hold back in voicing his frustration.

The defeat, sealed by an early goal from former United player Anthony Elanga, has sparked tensions within the squad, with Onana openly criticizing teammate Diogo Dalot for costly defensive mistakes.

Since arriving at United, Onana has faced intense scrutiny, often being blamed for the team’s defensive issues. However, following the latest setback, he made it clear he is tired of taking all the criticism when, in his view, the real problem lies elsewhere.

He singled out Dalot, holding him responsible for the Forest goal and calling on manager Rúben Amorim to address the situation.

“I can’t keep taking the blame when most of the time, it’s his mistakes causing the problems,” Onana reportedly said, expressing his frustration with the repeated defensive lapses.

Dalot’s struggles at the back have been a recurring concern, and the early goal against Forest was another example of his defensive vulnerabilities.

Onana believes these mistakes are putting unnecessary pressure on the team and jeopardizing their results.

This outburst highlights deeper issues within the squad, with rising tensions following yet another disappointing performance. While Dalot offers attacking contributions, his defensive inconsistencies have proven costly.

Onana, one of the more vocal figures in the team, is now pushing for Amorim to make decisive changes—whether that means dropping Dalot, reshuffling the defense, or even seeking reinforcements.

With United already struggling for consistency, internal conflicts like this could further disrupt the squad. However, Onana’s comments might also serve as a wake-up call for Dalot and the rest of the defense to step up.

Amorim now faces a tough decision: support his goalkeeper’s concerns or stand by Dalot in hopes of improvement.

As United prepare for their upcoming fixtures, all eyes will be on how they respond to this situation. Onana has made it clear he will not continue taking the blame for others’ mistakes, and his demand for accountability could lead to significant changes within the squad.

Whether this improves United’s defensive stability or deepens divisions remains to be seen, but one thing is certain—they cannot afford more costly errors if they hope to salvage their season.
