Caoimhin Kelleher Poised for Liverpool Exit in Search of First-Team Football
Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is increasingly expected to leave Anfield this summer as he pursues regular playing time after years as Alisson Becker’s backup.
The 26-year-old Irish international, who joined Liverpool in 2015, appears ready for a new chapter in his career, seeking a No.1 role elsewhere.
Despite making a strong impression during limited appearances—most notably in Liverpool’s 2022 Carabao Cup triumph—Kelleher has largely featured in cup matches and as a secondary option behind Alisson in the Premier League.
Speaking after Liverpool’s season finale, Kelleher reaffirmed his desire for consistent starts:
> “I feel like I’m good enough to be a number one… that’s what I’m looking to do.”
Although still under contract until 2026, Liverpool are reportedly open to offers in the £15–20 million range. Aston Villa have emerged as a potential destination, especially if Emiliano Martinez departs this summer. Unai Emery’s side sees Kelleher as a strong candidate to fill the role.
Former Liverpool midfielder Didi Hamann also praised Kelleher’s potential, calling him “one of the top five keepers around” and warning the Reds could lose him without offering more game time.
Meanwhile, Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo is also drawing transfer interest, with Bayern Munich rumored to be monitoring the Dutch international.
