Curtis Jones revealed that he received a congratulatory message from Jurgen Klopp after Liverpool’s 3-1 victory over Leicester City.

The midfielder, who marked his 100th Premier League appearance in the match by scoring to put Liverpool ahead, was surprised by Klopp’s recognition.

Klopp, who gave Jones his Premier League debut against Bournemouth in 2019, stepped down as Liverpool manager last summer.

However, he remains closely connected to the club and its players while preparing to start his new role with the Red Bull group next week.

Reflecting on Klopp’s influence, Jones credited his former manager for laying the foundation that has allowed Arne Slot to continue building success at Anfield.

Jones admitted he was unaware of his milestone until he checked his phone in the dressing room and saw Klopp’s message.

“I usually text my family after a game, and I saw a message from [Jurgen] Klopp saying, ‘Congratulations on 100 games and here’s to 500,'” Jones told *Match of the Day.*

“I was like, what is he on about? Then I checked, and I’m proud. He’s the one who set up the team we have now. The foundation was there, and Arne Slot has carried it on.”

Jones acknowledged the challenges ahead, emphasizing the importance of taking each game as it comes. “There are plenty of games to play.

Whether it’s a team at the bottom, middle, or top, it’s always tough. It’s about trying to win every single game, and if we do that, everyone knows what happens at the end.”

Reflecting on the Leicester match, Jones highlighted Liverpool’s resilience and tactical adjustments. “It was a hard game.

They sat back and defended well, making it difficult to find space. In the first half, we were crossing too much, which suited their plan. In the second half, we changed things, kept possession, and that’s when the goals came.”

He praised the team’s mentality: “When we go a goal down, we don’t stop. We equalize before halftime, then start strong in the second half and score again. The thing with us is, we just want to win every game.”
