There are sensational claims suggesting that Liverpool might sell Darwin Nunez to Arsenal before the transfer deadline on Friday, with the deal being described as “unlikely but not impossible.”

Nunez has had a challenging start to the season under new coach Arne Slot, continuing to be used mostly as a substitute, similar to his situation at the end of last season under Jurgen Klopp.

Though he made a brief appearance against Brentford, he quickly ended up offside, causing some frustration among fans. Meanwhile, Diogo Jota has established himself as the preferred central forward.

Despite these challenges, the idea of Liverpool selling Nunez to Arsenal seems far-fetched, particularly given the source of the rumor, “AFCAMDEN,” who previously suggested that Curtis Jones might move to Arsenal—a claim that Liverpool did not take seriously.

Moreover, Liverpool has consistently maintained a strong stance on Nunez. A report from the ECHO last month indicated that despite interest from Turkey, the club has “no intention” of selling the striker, whether on loan or permanently.

However, it’s possible that Slot’s view of Nunez may have changed after watching him at the start of the season.

While player exchanges between top clubs have become more common, the likelihood of Nunez moving to Arsenal remains slim.

Arsenal currently depends on players they acquired from Chelsea and Manchester City, Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, as their primary forward options. In this context, a move for Nunez would align with Arsenal’s recent transfer patterns.

Reports suggest that Nunez is “keen” on a move to London, eager to join Mikel Arteta’s side and compete for trophies. (Nunez did win silverware with Liverpool last season, which is more than he might have achieved at Arsenal.)

However, it seems unlikely that Liverpool would give up on their record signing so soon. Coach Arne Slot has repeatedly emphasized the quality of the squad he inherited and plans to improve it further through coaching.

According to Liverpool.com, the idea of selling Nunez falls into the category of “silly season” transfer rumors.

It’s highly improbable that Liverpool would suddenly decide to part with Nunez with only days left in the transfer window and no time to find a replacement.

While Jota is currently ahead in the pecking order, his injury history makes it crucial for Liverpool to retain other quality attacking options.

If anything, Liverpool needs more depth in their attack, not less. This potential deal isn’t worth serious consideration.

Despite heavy speculation, Liverpool have opted not to move forward with a potential £85 million deal for Alexander Isak. Instead, the club has shifted its transfer focus and funds toward other priority targets who are considered more suited to Arne Slot’s tactical plans.

“I’m ready to sign for Liverpool immediately if he’s no longer in the squad. Once that condition is met, I’d be happy to make the move to Anfield” – those are the words of top defensive target Marc Guehi, who has made it clear he’s open to joining Liverpool, but only on one condition: the departure of a key current Reds player.
