In recent months, various reports have circulated suggesting that Qatar Sports Investments is involved in Al Thani’s bid to potentially acquire ownership of Manchester United.
Contrarily, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain, has broken his silence regarding this matter, refuting any significant involvement and clarifying that he merely served as an advisor.
As per Al-Khelaifi’s comments cited by Canal Supporters, “To be honest, it’s amusing.” He explains that as a Qatari citizen, he often receives inquiries from numerous European associations regarding investments and related matters. He states his readiness to offer opinions and guidance to anyone seeking advice, not solely limited to Manchester United but to any such inquiries he receives. He emphasizes his strong connection to PSG, his club, as the priority in his capacity.
Al-Khelaifi, also serving as the president of the ECA, expresses his desire for improvements in tournaments and clubs across Europe, aiming for the best outcomes for French football in various leagues and competitions.
Qatar Sports Investments has been gradually acquiring minority stakes in several clubs to elevate its influence. Despite QSI’s ownership of Paris Saint-Germain since 2011, the complete ownership of PSG wasn’t transferred to QSI.
Apart from Al Thani, British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe is also competing to potentially become the new owner of Manchester United. The outcome of this contest for ownership of Old Trafford’s club remains intriguing to observe.
