Paul Scholes responded to Bruno Fernandes’ criticism of the team by urging Manchester United’s captain to “take responsibility” for conceding “two silly fouls that led to goals” during their 3-3 draw against Galatasaray. In the aftermath of the match, Fernandes expressed discontent with the team’s performance, deeming it insufficient, following his tough words to teammates.

During the encounter, United initially led with goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Fernandes, hinting at a promising outcome. However, Fernandes’ foul near the penalty area allowed Ziyech to score, diminishing United’s two-goal lead just before halftime, altering the match’s dynamics.

Post-game, Fernandes remarked to TNT Sports, “We could have closed the game again.” Expressing frustration, the £70 million striker mentioned his interest in a move to Arsenal, deeming their performance in the Champions League as unsatisfactory.

Following the match, Ziyech capitalized on another foul by Fernandes, resulting in an own goal by United’s goalie, Andre Onana. Scholes criticized Fernandes for his actions, emphasizing that the team should have played out the match differently.

Scholes commented to TNT Sports, “He made two big mistakes tonight by giving away two stupid fouls that led to two goals.” Scholes emphasized the need for Fernandes and the team, including the captain himself, to take responsibility, highlighting issues with maintaining a clean sheet, defensive struggles, goalkeeper errors, and Fernandes’ costly fouls.

The outcome has left Manchester United’s Champions League qualification hopes hanging by a thread, requiring a win against Bayern Munich and favorable results elsewhere to progress.
