Trent Alexander-Arnold’s recent performances for England have temporarily shifted attention away from the uncertainty surrounding his future at Liverpool.

The Reds’ vice-captain, along with Virgil van Dijk and Mo Salah, has a contract set to expire next June, sparking widespread speculation about whether they will remain at the club.

According to Graeme Bailey of TBR Football, the 25-year-old has delayed making a decision as he evaluates progress under new manager Arne Slot, who took over from Jurgen Klopp during the summer.

However, Bailey notes that Trent is enjoying working with Slot, which has improved Liverpool’s chances of securing his commitment. A lucrative five-year deal, reportedly worth over £300,000 per week, is on offer if he chooses to stay.

Bailey’s update provides a positive sign that Trent may extend his contract, quelling rumors about his potential departure.

Despite speculation from pundits like Graeme Souness about a move to Real Madrid, Trent hinted after the recent victory over Manchester United that he intends to stay.

The proposed pay raise from his current £180,000 per week, along with Liverpool’s strong start to the season under Slot, are factors that could influence his decision.

Additionally, with Van Dijk turning 34 next summer, Trent could be in line to become the club’s full-time captain, following in the footsteps of Steven Gerrard.

His impressive form for both Liverpool and England highlights the importance of securing him on a long-term contract, and the signs point towards the club being able to do so.
