Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, was given three yellow cards in the Premier League this season and was suspended from the sidelines for one game.
Ten Hag received a warning during the Red Devils’ 1-0 victory over Luton Town at home on Saturday after voicing his displeasure to referee Graham Scott about his team’s throw-in call.
Now, after the November international break, the Dutchman will have to watch from the stands as United visits Goodison Park to play Everton.
Ten Hag had already received a booking during United’s away losses to Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal in the season’s first few weeks.
Ten Hag responded to a question about how United will prepare to play Everton without him on the sidelines during a press conference by saying, “We have a very competent coaching staff and they will take over.”
Victor Lindelof’s goal in the second half helped Ten Hag’s team pull off a 1-0 victory on Saturday afternoon, despite his complaints. This was their first win since losing 4-3 to Copenhagen in the Champions League on Wednesday.
This season, the Premier League has tightened its penalties for managers’ behavior during games. After receiving three bookings, Man City manager Pep Guardiola has already served a one-match suspension. Meanwhile, Chelsea assistant Jesus Perez was sent out during their game at the end of October for entering the Brentford technical area.
Additionally, only one employee may be conspicuously present at the boundary of the manager’s technical area at any given time under the new regulations.
