Liverpool have made a strong start to the new season, currently sitting atop the Premier League standings with 15 points from a possible 18, their only loss coming against Nottingham Forest.

Despite uncertainties surrounding the futures of some players, the team has performed admirably, suggesting that life after Jurgen Klopp might not be as challenging as once feared.

Liverpool captain Virgil Van Dijk, along with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, is in the final year of his contract. All of these players will be eligible to negotiate pre-contract agreements with other clubs in January.

However, Football Insider pundit Paul Robinson believes the Dutch defender is likely to sign a new contract and extend his successful time at Anfield.

Robinson stated, “I can’t see a reason why Liverpool wouldn’t extend Van Dijk for another year if he wanted it. From what I hear, that will happen.”

Van Dijk continues to demonstrate his world-class abilities, with Liverpool only conceding two goals in the Premier League so far this season.

His partnership with Ibrahima Konate is proving effective, and his leadership remains vital as the club navigates a transitional phase under a new manager.

The Dutch centre-back has been a key figure since his arrival at Anfield and remains one of Liverpool’s most essential players.

The Reds will face Bologna in the Champions League, followed by a Premier League trip to face struggling Crystal Palace next weekend.
