Al-Shabab, the Saudi Arabian football club, is reportedly in talks to bring back former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea. Despite earlier rumors linking him to Real Madrid and Newcastle, recent reports suggest that Al-Shabab is actively negotiating with the former Atletico Madrid shot-stopper.
This pursuit of De Gea is part of Al-Shabab’s broader strategy to strengthen their squad, which includes efforts to acquire talents such as Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic, Newcastle’s Miguel Almiron, and Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech.
Currently struggling in the Saudi Pro League after parting ways with former Liverpool star Igor Biscan, the club has also reportedly entered discussions with former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, who is currently without a managerial position following his departure from AS Roma.
In a parallel development, Manchester United is reportedly keeping a close eye on the situation of Jan Oblak at Atletico Madrid. Reports from Spanish outlet Fichajes suggest that Atletico might consider offers for their primary goalkeeper.
Despite securing Andre Onana from Inter as De Gea’s replacement in the summer, Manchester United is reportedly interested in bringing Slovakian international Oblak to England. The club is optimistic that a bid of approximately £38.5 million could initiate negotiations with Atletico.
