Real Madrid is reportedly contemplating a strategic move involving Marcus Rashford in a potential transfer swap deal that would see Takefusa Kubo returning to the Santiago Bernabeu and then being offered to Manchester United. According to reports from Spanish outlet Real Madrid Exclusivo (Footballwave),
the La Liga giants are weighing the option of offering Kubo in exchange for Rashford during the upcoming summer transfer window. This plan hinges on Real Madrid’s buy-back clause in Kubo’s contract with Real Sociedad, valued at €30 million (£25.5 million).
The proposed strategy involves reacquiring Kubo from Real Sociedad and then utilizing him as part of the deal to secure Rashford, a 26-year-old forward who recently committed to a long-term contract with Manchester United until 2028.
However, it’s anticipated that Manchester United may demand a substantial fee of around £120 million for Rashford.
Rashford has encountered challenges during the 2023-24 season, both on and off the field. Despite this, he has returned to Erik ten Hag’s first team after facing disciplinary action from the club for missing training due to a night out drinking.
On the other hand, Kubo, aged 22, has performed impressively for Real Sociedad this season, attracting interest from Manchester United as well.
In addition to Rashford, Real Madrid is reportedly keeping tabs on another Manchester United forward, Rasmus Hojlund. The La Liga leaders view Hojlund, a 21-year-old Danish talent, as a backup option in case they fail to secure signings like Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland.
Juni Calafat, Real Madrid’s head scout, has been closely monitoring Hojlund’s progress since his time at Atalanta, indicating sustained interest in the promising young player amid his tenure at Manchester United.
