Former Manchester United player Paul Pogba allegedly tested positive for testosterone use, according to numerous Italian publications.
The player, Juventus, Serie A, or the Italian Football Federation have not yet made an official statement regarding the reports as of the time of this writing.
The Juventus midfielder allegedly tested positive for abnormal amounts of the hormone following the Italian team’s debut Serie A game against Udinese on August 20.
The World Cup champion for France in 2018, Pogba, sat on the sidelines the entire contest but has since come on as a substitute in games against Bologna and Empoli. Unknown organization may have carried out the testing.
Pogba might be brought before the National Anti-Doping Tribunal and could face a two-year suspension from all football-related activities if proven guilty, according to Sportmediaset. If it is determined that the player took the substance knowing it was prohibited, the suspension might be increased to four years.
Given the speculations, it is now unlikely that the Frenchman will play in Juventus’ upcoming encounter against Lazio on Saturday at 2pm.
