Liverpool are reportedly ‘considering’ signing Martin Zubimendi this summer, according to reliable Times journalist Paul Joyce on X (formerly Twitter).
Amid their search for a No.6, Liverpool have shifted focus from ‘destroyer’ profiles to a ‘controller’ type, aligning better with Arne Slot’s revised system.
Joyce’s report for The Times indicates that Slot is officially considering making Zubimendi his first senior signing of the window.
The Dutch head coach believes the 25-year-old Spaniard can enhance control in the midfield and support a more possession-focused game.
If Liverpool pursue Zubimendi, it could result in Wataru Endo being moved on, as he is no longer deemed suitable for the role. Zubimendi’s current release clause is reported to be £51m.
