Jamie Carragher expressed strong disapproval over the widespread booing of Trent Alexander-Arnold during Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal at Anfield.
The vice-captain recently announced he’ll leave the club at the end of the season, likely joining Real Madrid, sparking mixed reactions from fans.
While some cheered, the boos grew louder when he entered as a substitute.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher called the response “the story of the game,” acknowledging fans’ frustration but condemning jeering a player still giving his all in a red shirt.
He added that, although he opposes a hostile send-off, Alexander-Arnold shouldn’t expect a special farewell either.
