Liverpool faced more injury setbacks with Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez ruled out ahead of the Brentford match, yet they managed to secure victory.

Before hosting Brentford, Liverpool was concerned about Virgil van Dijk and Ryan Gravenberch’s health; both missed the Europa League game against Toulouse due to illness and injury. Despite Gravenberch’s absence from the 3-0 win over Brentford, the team supported Van Dijk defensively. However, Jurgen Klopp faced limited midfield options due to suspensions and injuries, even having 16-year-old Trey Nyoni on the bench for the first time since joining from Leicester City.

The defensive issues persisted with Gomez and Konate sidelined alongside Andy Robertson. Konate’s injury prevented his inclusion in France’s upcoming matches against Gibraltar and Greece, with Axel Disasi replacing him. Official details about Konate and Gomez’s injuries haven’t been disclosed yet, raising concerns for Klopp about player fitness, including Mac Allister’s anticipated return for the Manchester City match.

Regarding Konate, despite unknown details about his current status, the severity of his injury prevents participation in France’s upcoming matches. Klopp expressed dissatisfaction with Konate’s recent workload under France’s coach Gérard Deschamps. Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport confirmed Konate’s hamstring issue, sustained during the Europa League warm-up in Toulouse, requiring a two-week recovery.

Unexpectedly, Gomez, despite a strong start to the season, was absent. Gravenberch, potentially ready for the international break, faced a minor knee niggle. Curtis Jones, with a low-grade hamstring injury from the Carabao Cup, is expected to return after the international break. Robertson underwent shoulder surgery and aims for a return next year.

Thiago Alcantara is still unable to play due to a setback in pelvic surgery recovery, while Stefan Bajcetic faces an undisclosed setback prolonging his absence without a confirmed return date.
