Manchester United are facing mounting pressure to dismiss Erik ten Hag, with criticisms suggesting he appears overwhelmed in his current role, resembling a “rabbit caught in headlights.”

Ten Hag initially had a successful debut season at Old Trafford, securing a third-place finish in the Premier League and clinching the Carabao Cup. However, the team’s dreadful start to the current season, including exits from the Carabao Cup and potential Champions League elimination, has raised concerns. As they sit eighth in the Premier League, the upcoming match against Luton Town is pivotal for Ten Hag.

Stan Collymore, acknowledging Ten Hag’s precarious position as the second favorite to be sacked in the Premier League, believes that Ten Hag’s time is up and suggests Brighton’s Robert De Zerbi as a potential replacement. Collymore perceives De Zerbi as capable of revamping the underperforming squad and instilling a robust managerial presence. He emphasizes De Zerbi’s ability to demand high standards and believes he can reinvigorate the team to play in the classic “Manchester United way.”

Collymore also suggests that Manchester United might have had discussions with Unai Emery’s representatives, anticipating Emery’s potential availability should Aston Villa perform well and secure European qualification. He speculates that Emery might be sought after by United if they opt for a managerial change.
