Report: Newcastle face pressure to sanction a major sale with Liverpool preparing a second bid for Isak

    JadeBy JadeAugust 25, 2025No Comments2 Mins Read

Liverpool have just one week left if they’re serious about landing Alexander Isak before the transfer window shuts.

The ongoing saga is reaching its climax, with the Reds so far making only one bid (£110m earlier this month), which Newcastle swiftly rejected.

Sources stress that the Magpies won’t entertain any sale unless they first secure attacking reinforcements of their own.

Newcastle brace for fresh Liverpool approach

According to The i Paper, Newcastle are preparing for another bid from Liverpool once the two sides meet at St James’ Park tonight, despite their firm stance and earlier rejection.

Journalist Mark Douglas notes that time is running out for the Magpies to find a replacement, making a deal increasingly unlikely.

That said, Newcastle’s financial pressures under PSR rules mean a major sale is inevitable at some point, even if it doesn’t involve Isak before this window closes.

Liverpool could still make one last push

Unlike the persistent pursuit of Florian Wirtz earlier this summer, Liverpool have so far adopted a patient approach with Isak.

After the emphatic rejection of their first offer, FSG know only a massive, near-irresistible proposal could change Newcastle’s mind.

With Isak making clear his desire to leave – and missing tonight’s match, unlike when he punished Liverpool with two goals last season – the Premier League champions might yet test Newcastle’s resolve before the deadline.

The Tyneside club’s PSR concerns mean someone will likely be sold soon. Could it be Isak heading to Anfield this week? The chances look slim – but it’s not off the table.
