Andre Onana could potentially attend every United game during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

If Cameroon doesn’t advance past the group stage, Onana might be eligible for United’s FA Cup fourth-round match against Eastleigh or Newport on January 27. After facing Tottenham, United enjoys a two-week winter break before the FA Cup fourth round, followed by a Premier League matchup against Wolves on February 1.

Onana, having started all 29 games for United this season, is expected to start in goal for the next game against Spurs. His international duty departure was delayed until January 14 per an agreement between the club and the Cameroonian FA.

Cameroon’s AFCON schedule includes matches against Guinea on January 15, Senegal on January 19, and the Gambia on January 23. If Cameroon reaches the AFCON championship game on February 13, Onana might miss a maximum of four United games.

The Premier League has until January 1 to release players for the competition, allowing United to start Onana against Spurs. The unique circumstances provide an intriguing dimension to United’s strategic planning and could impact crucial fixtures.

Tottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, emphasized that each club is free to manage such situations, expressing wishes for players’ success and well-being while complying with FIFA regulations on international competitions.
