Kylian Mbappe has always had a specific objective: to play for Paris Saint-Germain through June 2024 and then sign with Real Madrid as a free agent after that. Similar to what happened in mid-2022, when he had everything planned with the Spanish club but Nasser Al Khelaifi’s millions ultimately persuaded him to remain in his home nation.
Real Madrid supporters were enraged by the book because they believed he had used their team to get a greater wage in France. The resentment appears to have subsided, and fans once more believe they can see Mbappe wearing the white shirt.
Mbappe made it apparent that he would play for Paris Saint-Germain this season, and there was a very good reason for it: the enormous salary he receives in France, which Real Madrid could not afford to pay. PSG gives ‘Donatello’ an 80 million euro loyalty bonus for playing with the club in the 2023–2024 season.
In case the forward does not join another team in the upcoming winter market, the remaining half of that sum has already been paid.
PSG pushed Mbappe to select the option of automatic renewal, which is available only to the player. Even worse, the club kicked him out of the team and sent him on a tour of Europe instead of Japan.
The scorer, however, consistently maintained his stance since he understood that the team would not benefit from paying him a year’s wage by leaving him off the rosters. The plan is simple: after collecting the hefty salary of 60 million euros and the awards, he will travel to Real Madrid to realise his dream.
The cause behind Mbappe’s departure from PSG
Kylian Mbappe appears to be moving closer and closer to Real Madrid with each passing day. In a recent broadcast on the Remontada Blanca Twitch channel, the club’s president, José Manuel Otero, claimed that Mbappe “was born to play for Real Madrid.”
But what mattered most was what he stated about his future. With the exits of Neymar and Lionel Messi, Paris Saint-Germain lost influence, and Mbappe will not want to stay there.
