Chelsea has quietly released a key player who was acquired in a record-breaking £21 million deal just over a year ago.
Bruno Saltor was reportedly allowed to quietly leave Chelsea a little over a year after they acquired him in a world-record £21 million move for Graham Potter’s Brighton team.
After Potter was fired, the Spaniard briefly managed Chelsea’s first team as interim manager. He then continued to lead the Blues while Frank Lampard served as interim manager, and once more at the beginning of the current season when Mauricio Pochettino took over as permanent manager.
Bruno has reportedly quietly left the west London giants, despite the club’s decision to withhold a formal announcement of his departure, according to The Telegraph.
It is unclear what this implies for Pochettino, who has had a difficult time adjusting to his new position as Chelsea manager and could surely do without any more turbulence.
Bruno and former manager Potter were obviously close, so it makes sense for him to leave and let a new system take hold.
The fact that things seem to be just as frantic off the field as they are on it may worry Chelsea fans.
