This star player is to blame for Chelsea’s recent poor play, according to Mauricio Pochettino.
Mykhaylo Mudryk has been advised to step up his game by Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino after yet another subpar performance in the match against Bournemouth.
The winger was acquired by the Blues for £88.5 million during the previous January transfer window. Since moving to Stamford Bridge, he hasn’t been able to live up to that price tag, as he has yet to score a Premier League goal.
At the Vitality Stadium on Sunday, he started on the left wing against the Cherries, and his issues persisted. The Ukrainian lost three attacking duels as a result of his three attempts at delivering an accurate cross.
Just after the hour mark, Pochettino replaced him with Cole Palmer due to his issues. Pochettino challenged Mudryk to start proving why Chelsea paid such a hefty price for him after the game.
“He is improving. He still has a lot to learn because both the Premier League and the game are played at breakneck speeds.I think it’s about trying to be more a part of the team and better understanding the game,” he said.
“We must give him the time and resources he requires to develop throughout the season.” We must be strict if we are to succeed. It’s about improving our efficiency in pursuit of the objective.
The seasoned defender Thiago Silva was seen getting frustrated with his team’s attackers after they once again failed to score. The team’s inability to score also infuriated Pochettino.
“I think, again, it’s about merit, but the opportunities we created in the first 20, 25 minutes, I think we deserved to score in this situation, but we didn’t,” the player said. The game became open at that point, and I think we wanted to win in the final 15, 20 minutes,” he added.
“With the full back so high, we occasionally started to disorganize our defense, which allowed for some counterattacks in transition.” We were upset because we wanted to win, but we recognize the limitations.
Again, we were due more, but we were not given it. At the conclusion of the game, we discussed the need to maintain our composure because defensive players occasionally desire to assist their team in scoring because they feel we are unable of doing so.
