In the closing days of the transfer window, Manchester United seemed poised to play a significant role, primarily due to the anticipated transfer of Harry Maguire. Indications pointed towards Romelu Lukaku nearing a move to Juventus, with Manchester United expecting a valuable asset in return—Juventus had expressed interest in securing the services of Argentine international player Paulo Dybala.

Once regarded as one of the most promising young stars in the game, Dybala, at 25, was expected to continue elevating his performance. However, his progress stalled when Cristiano Ronaldo joined Juventus, revealing an apparent lack of synergy between the two. Consequently, Dybala found himself dispensable during the summer transfer window.

While Manchester United seemed on the brink of finalizing a deal, recent developments suggest the agreement has been scrapped. The withdrawal reportedly stems from escalating transfer fees, with Dybala demanding wages comparable to Alexis Sanchez—an arrangement the club is unwilling to commit to. Additionally, potential pricing issues raised by Dybala’s agency contribute to the breakdown of the deal.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is uncertain about Dybala’s interest in moving to Manchester and is now focused on recruiting players eager for the move, as he has done in the past. There’s a perception that Dybala may not genuinely want to leave Juventus unless offered substantial financial incentives.

The collapse of the Dybala deal, however, is not expected to impact the potential Romelu Lukaku trade. Both Juventus and Inter Milan remain keen on the striker, and negotiations for a deal between the two clubs are still plausible.

Should Lukaku depart without a replacement, Solskjaer is confident that one of the younger players in the squad would step up to fill the void in the team.
