Manchester United Reportedly Secure Deal for Viktor Gyökeres
Manchester United have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Viktor Gyökeres from Sporting Lisbon, according to recent reports.
The club’s decision-makers left new manager Ruben Amorim with significant challenges for the remainder of the season by not signing a forward in January. Amorim also experienced a rift with key player Marcus Rashford, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa.
Meanwhile, United’s available strikers, Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee, have struggled to make a significant impact. Despite these issues, INEOS opted to reinforce only the defense during the winter transfer window.
United Agree Summer Move for Gyökeres
According to Fichajes, United’s lack of high-profile signings in January was due to Gyökeres’s transfer being “already in motion” for the summer window.
Reports suggest that the club has reached an agreement with Sporting to bring the Swedish striker to Old Trafford next season.
The 26-year-old has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific goal scorers, netting 34 goals in as many appearances this season.
After joining Sporting from Coventry City in 2023, he quickly became a key player under Amorim, showcasing his exceptional speed and finishing ability.
Despite Amorim’s departure from Sporting, Gyökeres has maintained his form, continuing to attract attention with his goal-scoring exploits.
The forward is under contract with Sporting until 2028, with a release clause set at €100 million. However, reports indicate that the Portuguese club is open to negotiating a deal in the region of €70 million.
United see Gyökeres as a crucial figure in Amorim’s project at Old Trafford, given their successful partnership in Portugal.
