OFFICIAL: Manchester United Seal Deal for 23-Year-Old Star – Medical Scheduled for Tomorrow as Amorim Confirms Fourth Summer Signing
Manchester United have officially announced the signing of a highly talented 23-year-old player, who has been handed a legendary squad number at Old Trafford.
The player is scheduled to undergo his medical on Tuesday morning, marking Ruben Amorim’s fourth confirmed addition of the summer window.
United had been chasing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo since early this month after the 25-year-old winger expressed his desire to join the Red Devils, despite strong interest from Tottenham and Newcastle.
Mbeumo was a standout performer last season, netting 20 goals in the Premier League. While Newcastle initially shortlisted him as a top target, his wage demands and Brentford’s high asking price forced them to drop out of the race — opening the door for United to act.
Although United’s initial offer of £45m plus £10m in add-ons was turned down, negotiations persisted. Now, reports from talkSPORT confirm that a deal is nearing completion following an improved bid believed to be over £60m.
Mbeumo is set to earn around £200,000 per week, a figure Newcastle weren’t willing to match.
Newcastle Shift Focus After Mbeumo Exit
After backing out of the Mbeumo pursuit, Newcastle have shifted their attention to Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga, a former Manchester United player.
Their opening £45m bid for Elanga was swiftly rejected, with Forest valuing him closer to £60m.
Elanga is reportedly open to the move, but Forest are reluctant to sell unless Newcastle return with a much-improved offer.
Other alternatives being considered by the Magpies include Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo, and Johan Bakayoko, as they continue their search for a right-wing upgrade.
From United’s perspective, a potential Elanga move could prove financially beneficial, as they included a sell-on clause when he left Old Trafford in 2023.
As the transfer window heats up, all eyes are now on Mbeumo’s upcoming medical and what could be a transformative summer under Ruben Amorim’s leadership.
