DEAL SEALED: Manchester United have beaten off competition from PSG and Real Madrid to secure the £60 million signing of a top South American talent. The player is scheduled to travel tomorrow ahead of a medical later this week. Congratulations, United fans — this one’s a major couple

Meanwhile, United are also making steady progress in their pursuit of Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo. Talks have intensified following a revised offer exceeding £60 million after an initial £55 million bid was rejected.

While an agreement is close, a few key details — particularly regarding add-ons and bonus clauses — still need finalizing.

Mbeumo has been identified as the ideal fit for one of the two attacking midfield roles alongside recent signing Matheus Cunha.

The 25-year-old enjoyed a breakout Premier League campaign last season, scoring 20 goals — a tally bettered only by Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak, and Erling Haaland.

This marked the first time Mbeumo reached double digits in top-flight football. Previously, he netted 11 goals for Ligue 2 side Troyes in 2018/19 and 16 for Brentford during their Championship run in 2019/20.

In his first three Premier League seasons, he recorded consistent returns with 8, 9, and 9 goals respectively.

According to The Standard, Brentford are pushing for more favorable add-on terms before approving the deal, with United’s latest proposal including £55 million upfront and an additional £5 million in performance-based incentives.

Should the transfer go through, it would mark a record sale for Brentford, surpassing the £40 million fee received from Al-Ahli for Ivan Toney.

Though United remain in pole position, Brentford are open to rival bids should they emerge.
