Reports suggest that Manchester City is eyeing a move for Bruno Guimaraes, the midfielder from Newcastle United.

Previously, the Brazilian player expressed his unease playing against City, likening it to facing an overwhelming force.

Despite this, he has shown admiration for Ilkay Gundogan, whom he admired during the latter’s time at Borussia Dortmund.

Guimaraes, valued at £100 million, has become a standout midfielder since joining Newcastle in 2022 and extending his contract until 2028 last October.

Manchester City’s interest in him is part of their midfield strengthening plans for the upcoming summer.

Pep Guardiola is reportedly keen on Guimaraes, who is reportedly seeking a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona, although such moves appear unlikely currently.

Newcastle is willing to consider offers from the Spanish giants, but other suitors, like Manchester City, would need to meet the £100 million release clause.

Paris Saint-Germain is also in the mix, while a switch to Liverpool or Chelsea seems improbable for Guimaraes.

Guardiola praised Guimaraes after City’s win over Newcastle in March, with the player reciprocating by calling Guardiola “the best coach in history”. Whether Guimaraes will join Guardiola at Manchester City remains to be seen.
